Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed satisfaction with the quality of the pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium following the Black Stars' first training session ahead of their upcoming clash against Sudan.
The match is part of a crucial doubleheader in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, scheduled for this month.
Ghana enters the games with mixed results, having lost to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and drawn with Niger in an away fixture. Concerns were previously raised about the poor state of the Baba Yara pitch, which led to speculation that the Black Stars might have to play their home game against Sudan at another venue.
However, after a successful training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, Elisha Owusu was full of praise for the playing surface and is confident it will aid the team’s performance.
“The pitch was good. I won’t lie to you, the pitch was very good. We had an amazing training today, so we are happy everybody is doing their thing to help us play better football,” Owusu said, adding, “Now it’s on us to put in the performance. We have an amazing staff. They do everything for us to give our best. We are ready mentally, and we are here to win.”
With the first leg of the doubleheader set to take place on Thursday, October 10, at 4 p.m., the Black Stars are keen to bounce back from their recent setbacks and secure all three points against Sudan.
As the team looks ahead to the showdown, the improved pitch conditions at the Accra Sports Stadium could provide the perfect stage for a strong performance.
