Sola Ayew has rubbished concerns the misconduct of his nephew, Andre, has heightened tensions in the Black Stars.
The Olympique Marseille player reportedly reacted rudely to being substituted in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Malawi in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier.
The 22-year-old misconducted himself by demanding an explanation for his substitution and refused to shake hands with the rest of the technical team and players on his way to taking his seat on the bench in the October 13 win in Lilongwe.
This led to the issuance of a one-week apology ultimatum by the Ghana FA of which the 2009 U-20 World Cup winning captain has since satisfied.
But there are emerging concerns Ayew’s behaviour in the whole episode has increased tensions in the Black Stars team.
But the player’s uncle, Sola an ex Hearts of Oak player himself insists tensions are part and parcel of any football side of which the technical handlers must deal with.
“In every national team there is tension. It is so everywhere,” he told Accra-based Radio XYZ.
“That us why we no longer have coaches but managers.
“Former (Ghana) captain Kwasi Appiah is now a manager so he should be able to deal with that.
“Players are coming from Manchester United, coming from Juventus and they all feel like winners.
“So there will be tension but the manager should handle it.”
Andre Ayew’s apology has since been accepted in good faith by head coach Akwasi Appiah who warned any future act of indiscipline will not be tolerated.
