Mr. Ernest Owusu Ansah, the Operations Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has said that their administration does not believe in the use of “juju” to win matches.
“Juju” is the use of supernatural powers to influence the outcome of football matches. It has been a common practice in football across the continent.
He said “Dr. Kwame Acheampong Kyei, the Chief Executive of Kotoko does not believe in the works of Juju, therefore there is no room for it as far as he is there”.
In an interview with GNA Sports, Mr. Owusu Ansah said that his job description as an Operation Manager has got nothing to do with spiritualties as some of the supporters perceive it, but rather running the day-to-day activities of the club.
“Operations management has got nothing to do with ‘juju’ or spiritualties and people should be aware that Dr. Kyei has emphatically said that nobody should come and talk to him about Juju.
“He does not believe in it, my job is to take care of what the players eat, where they sleep, their salaries and bonuses.
“I am in charge of match ticketing and hotel bookings, that is my job description and it has got nothing to do with spiritualties. Kotoko’s supporters must understand the work I do for the club, I don’t think it’s fair to say that I am the cause of Kotoko’s defeat.
“I was appointed as the team manager for Kotoko during Dr. K.K Sarpong’s era and we won the league back to back and the Super Cup, so I have an experience in the work I’m doing here.
“The operations manager is in charge of the day to day activities of the club, I see to it that all the players are paid in due time and as at now every player at Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been paid fully.” Mr. Owusu Ansah said.
Mr Owusu Ansah added that Kumasi Asante Kotoko is not in crisis and that, he is very optimistic they would return to winning ways as soon as possible.
“Kotoko is not in crises, we have played some difficult games recently but I don’t think we have been that bad as perceived we have 20 points just like the team on the third position. We will get back to the winning ways very soon.” He noted.
