Hearts of Oak Public Relations Officer, Kwame Opare Addo has disclosed that Thomas Abbey and some players fought to keep their jerseys after their defeat to Asante Kotoko in the 2017 MTN FA Cup final.

The Porcupine Warriors thrashed the Phobians 3-1 courtesy Saddick Adams's first-half hat-trick that propelled them to a ninth FA Cup triumph at the Tamale Sports stadium.

Abbey, speaking in an interview with Angel FM, said that Hearts players refused to train ahead of the finals in Tamale because the club failed to pay their salaries and bonuses for three months.

However, the management member of the Phobians has refuted such comments the former captain made.

"After the game then team captain Thomas Abbey and some players were fighting us to keep their jerseys,' he told Angel 102.9 FM in Accra.

"Their reason is that since their contract with the club has expired they want to keep the jerseys."
