Thomas Partey inspires Atletico Madrid to win Audi Cup

Ghana international Thomas Teye Partey inspired his Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid into an unlikely win over Liverpool in the 2017 AudiCup trophy. The former Almeria enforcer set the tone for his Madrid based side in the thrilling finale to earn his side a major preseason honour.

The inspirational midfielder repaid the trust placed on him by Diego Simeone to inspire the Rojiblancos to the podium. The Black Stars utility man bossed affairs in his 74 minutes spent on the pitch before making way for Stevan Savic in the final showdown.

Roberto Firmino scored a late penalty for the Reds to cancel out an early opener from Keidie only for Jordan Henderson to blow his spot kick away in the eventual 5-4 win for the Rojiblancos.
