Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday the best XI line-up in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Africa on CAF’s official Twitter account.

Ghana’s Thomas Partey was conspiciously missing from the squad despite his extraordinary performance in all the four games he played in which he netted four goals and was arguably the man of the match in all the games.

The line-up included two Egyptian players; Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s and the Egyptian national team’s striker, and Ahmed Hegazy, West Bromwich Albion’s and the Egyptian national team’s defender.

Salah led the Egyptian national team to qualify to the World Cup for the first time since 1990 after he scored two goals against Congo in their clash on October 8, at Borg El Arab stadium. He secured Egypt`s ticket after leading the group with 12 points above Uganda and Ghana.

The Tunisian player Ali Maaloul, Al Ahly’s left-back, was also featured in the best XI line-up along with his teammate Yousef El Msakny, who plays for Qatar Stars League club, Al-Duhail.

Tunisia leads its group three points ahead of DR Congo and needs a single point from its match against Libya to qualify to the World Cup.

Egypt and Nigeria are the only teams who have qualified to the World Cup till now. Tunisia, Morocco and Senegal are leading their groups but they must wait until the last round to decide their qualification against Libya, Cote d`Ivoire and South Africa respectively.
