The Ghana Chamber of Mines Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Toni Aubynn has revealed that, he stepped down as an aspirant of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidency because he believed he did not know the delegates as well as the other aspirants.

In an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’ he stated that, if it was a general election where the public was allowed to vote, he would have vied for the GFA Presidency. But as it is a college of voters, it is a different dynamic all together.

“I didn’t want my situation to be a ‘fear delegates’ example. It doesn’t matter the competencies and knowledge you bring on board as an aspirant. Delegates are always subjective and side with their favorites. I have interacted less with these delegates and this will not favor me though I may be competent than the other aspirants”.

He accordingly found it strategic for the entire football industry if he vied for a position on the Executive Council (EXCO) of the GFA rather than the Presidency. He cited that, the council is also important as it is responsible for directing the President and correcting him.

He however revealed that he will jump at the opportunity to be the GFA President at a latter date but for now, he wants a seat at the EXCO.
