Tony Baffour believes that his ex-skipper Abedi Pele Ayew is one of the greatest footballers of all time.
Abedi Pele is considered as the greatest player to have ever donned the jerseys of the Black Stars: playing in 5 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and winning 1.
And Tony Baffour who played alongside with him during the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana finished as runners-up to Ivory Coast, thinks Abedi Pele is one of the best footballers to have played the game of soccer.
“He is my personal friend and was also my roommate at the Blacks. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest players ever,” he told Kasapa FM.
Abedi Pele won the AFCON as a teenager in 1982 and was a losing finalist in 1992 as captain, a tournament that his wizardry dribbling made him the talk of the competition and ultimately won the best player.
He is also noted as the first player to win the African footballer of the year on three continuous occasions, during the time he was a core member of the Olympique Marseille team that finished as runners-up of the 1991 UEFA Champions League and as champions in 1993.
