Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has insisted that there are no 'favourites' to lift the Ghana Premier League trophy this season after five matchdays.

The 48-year-old was in Obuasi over the weekend to watch Wa All Stars' 1-1 stalemate with Bechem United and Ashanti Gold’s 2-0 win over rivals Asante Kotoko in the Asante derby.

Despite the Miners opening a five-point gap at the summit of the log the Caf vice president believes it's still too early to predict who will win the league.

"Many clubs have excited me so far but it's too early in the day to put your bet on any club now because five matches out of 30 are not enough to form a good opinion of the performance of the clubs," Nyantakyi told StarTimes.

"However, I think that with the early indications, probably Ashanti Gold have given an indication that they are ready to wrestle for the title this year.

"We also saw Aduana Stars who have two outstanding games but the few games that they've played especially against Inter Allies, they recorded a cricket scoreline (6-0) and that also give indications that they have something under their sleeve. So it's too early to say there is a clear favourite," he added.

Matchday six fixtures are expected to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
