The Top Six Committee in its maiden meeting resolved to extend the number of teams of the competition to eight.

This move has emerged necessary to avoid any redundancy in the novel competition.

With six teams being housed in two groups of three, a team will be left redundant in every match day.

“The committee in its maiden meeting decided to consider extending the number of teams to eight in our effort to avoid redundancy,” Top Six Committee chairman, Kwaku Eyiah told Asempa FM.

“But then we first have to confirm the participation of these additional teams and liaise with our sponsors accordingly.”

If confirmed, Hearts of Oak and New Edubiase would be included in the competition.

The committee also decided to change the name from Top Six to a yet to be determined one considering FA Cup winners, Nania FC are not a Premier League side.

“We have also decided to change the name Top Six and so we are inviting the general public to make suggestions of a befitting name for this competition.”
