The long anticipated transfer saga of Torric Jebrin appears to be nearing closure as he finally put pen to paper and signed for The English FA cup holders and premiership side Portsmouth FC on Thursday 30 October 2008. The talented youngster dubbed ‘Show Boy’ has also been on the radar of Chelsea, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma and unnamed Danish club, but elected to sign for Portsmouth from Hearts of Oak.
His management team consisting of Prince Umar Ibrahim (Player Manager/ Business Tycoon), Kasey Kwame Duku (English FA qualified Coach and Ghana’s First FIFA Licensed agent), Joel Laryea (FIFA Licensed Players’ agent) and Alexander Quarcoo (Marketing Expert/ Player Manager) confirmed that Torric had penned a deal which will see his long awaited transfer from Hearts of Oak to Portsmouth FC, the deal was delayed to ensure a concession to allow the continuation of the player’s academic education was included in the deal. The management also managed to secure a deal that ensured Hearts of Oak will retain a percentage of future onward transfer or sell-on fee for the player, collaboration between the two clubs to establish an academy in Ghana and regular end of season trials for selected Hearts of Oak players in England.
Torric Jebrin whose father Razak Jebrin was an outstanding footballer for a Corner’s Football club side (Kumasi) that featured the likes of Tony Yeboah. Torric ‘Show Boy’ Jebrin was delighted to have secured the deal following a successful trial at Portsmouth FC which saw his exuberating skills on display and included training session with the first team along the likes of Sol Campbell, Jermaine Defoe and the legendary Kanu. Torric praised his management team especially Prince Umar Ibrahim and expressed his gratitude to Hearts of Oak, Coach Zito and Annokye Stars for elevating his football career. Already a fully fledged member of the local Black stars and Satellites National U20’s of Ghana, Torric has vowed to maintain his composure to enable him to continue his football progress.
Kasey Duku confirmed that Torric Jebrin would be loaned out to a Belgium premiere Division side to enable the player to gain European first team football experience and continue his academic education for two years, during that period the player will fly at least once every three weeks to train with his Portsmouth side. The player who attracted lots of interest and in some cases received invitations from clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Lyon, Roma and an unnamed Danish side, but he opted for the FA Cup winners as his Management team deemed it not to be in the player’s best interest to be ‘touted’ around various clubs or trials.
His Management team stated that “Portsmouth FC are an ambitious club and have adopted a similar approach to a certain North London club in building for a very bright future, we have been patient and appreciate the co-operation of Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Commodore-Mensah and his vice Mr Steve Mawuenyeja and the contribution of sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo, Ransford Antwi and Ali Jarra”.
