Petroleum Ghana Limited launched its nationwide activities to kick off the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) slated to begin on 14th January 2017 in Gabon, of which they are the proud official title sponsor.
The Managing Director, Olivier Van-Parys, explained the importance of football to them as they entered an 8 years partnership with the Confederation of African Football on 21st July 2017 to support all CAF competitions. He stated that, ‘this partnership was birthed from their recognition and passion for football as it is a key sport that fosters unity and development on the continent and unite both young and old in spite of cultures and societal backgrounds.’
He added that the presence of Total in Africa goes as far back as 80 years ago and they, as the number one Oil and Gas Company on the continent, has contributed significantly to economic and social growth and the creation of several jobs through its activities in exploration, distribution, refinery and new energies.
Adding to this, the Sales and Marketing Manager, Abdul-Rahim Siddique, said as a proud sponsor of Total AFCON, Total Petroleum Ghana Limited is organizing two interesting activities at their service stations nationwide to create excitement and give those who are unable to join the fun in Gabon much more than observing the football match from their homes.
The first activation, which is the ‘Total AFCON Instant Win’, allows all vehicle users who purchase a minimum of Ghc 50 worth of fuel by cash with the Total card and motor bikers who purchase a minimum of GHc 20 to receive a scratch card with a prize, which will be given instantly. These prizes are AFCON branded souvenirs such as caps, T-shirts, footballs, key rings and branded towels among others.
In addition to this, the public can join in the Total AFCON competition by participating in a supporter’s selfie at a special selfie stand at any Total Service Station. The selfie taken will have to be uploaded on the dedicated Total AFCON website (http://football-together.total.com/en/play-pitch). Upon upload, participants need to click on a button to share the pictures with their friends on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to gain votes. Participants with the highest votes by 5th February 2017 will receive prizes such as phones, I pads and many more.
These Total AFCON 2017 activities are open to the general public from now till 6th February 2017.
Olivier Van-Parys, the Managing Director, extended the best wishes of the company to the Black stars towards the Total AFCON and hoped that they will bring the cup home for celebration.
