Toulon U-20 tourney starts today

The 35th edition of the prestigious Toulon under-20 invitational Football Tournament begins today. Ghana will be seeking to win in her second appearance at the event.

Ghana has been grouped alongside Japan, Holland and Portugal in group B, while group A is made up of hosts, France, China, Germany and Cote d"Ivoire.

National Under-20 team coach, Sulley Mohammed is leading his 19-man playing squad to represent Ghana at the tournament.

Among the local-based Satellites players for the tournament are Alhaji Sannie, Ekow Benson, Hannan Giwa, Louis Quainoo, Yaw Frimpong, Samad Oppong and Yahaya Mohammed.

Others are Samuel Enzemaba, Seidu Yahaya, Awal Issah, Eric Bekoe, John Boye, Mubarak Wakasu, Solomon Addy, Douglas Nkrumah, Felix Baffoe, Patrick Antwi and Emmanuel Clottey(premiership top scorer).

The tournament kicks ends on June 9.

Some great stars who have emerged from the Toulon tourney are Fabian Barthez Alan Shearer and Zidane in 1991, David Beckham ( 1995), Thierry Henry (1997) and Pablo Amarin (1998).
