OUAGADOUGOU, Jan 11 (AFP) -- Argentinian Luis Oscar Fullone was sacked on Friday as coach of the Burkina Faso team - just a week before the African Nations Cup gets underway in Mali.
"Luis Fullone is no longer a part of the set-up," said Burkina Faso Information Minister Theodore Kilimite who added the decision was sparked by the coach's regular absences to make trips to France where his wife has been ill.
Fullone, who was appointed last September, will be replaced by his assistants Jacques Yameogo and Pihouri Weboanga in the short term while a full-time replacement is found.

Queiroz names Cup of Nations hopefuls
20 Dec 2001 -- Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz has covered his bets in naming a fairly predictable preliminary 33-man squad of hopefuls to play in next month's African Nations Cup finals in Mali.
What is significant is the inclusion of budding stars from Orlando Pirates, striker Lesley Manyathela, midfielder Benedict Vilakazi, defender Mbulelo Mabizela, who made his international debut in the 1-0 win over Egypt in a friendly played in Johannesburg last month, and Kaizer Chiefs wayward star, midfielder-cum-striker Jabu Pule.
Manyathela who scored twice in Bucs' 3-0 drubbing of Chiefs in a PSL fixture on Saturday at the FNB stadium and repeated that feat for the SA under-23 side when he scored a brace in the Amaglug-glug's 3-0 win over Malawi on Sunday.
Vilakazi, who scored the other Pirates goal against Amakhosi has been improving with every game and deserves his chance to parade his skills on the continental stage.
Pule is a superb player but the huge question mark against him is his temperament. He has just completed a three match suspension after being sent off in Chiefs 3-2 defeat by SuperSport United at Ellis Park recently where he scored both Chiefs goals - the second is a prime candidate for Goal of the Year.
The good news is the availability of captain and Charlton Athletic striker Shaun Bartlett. Earlier there was some doubt over his availability. Bartlett is one of 16 overseas based players in the preliminary squad.
Another interesting selection is that of Cape Town born defender, Nasief Morris who plies his trade in Greece with Aris Salonica.
Good news is the inclusion of midfield hard man Eric Tinkler of English First Division club, Barnsley.
Tinkler (31) has been plagued with injuries which forced him to withdraw from the World Cup finals in France in 1998. He played in the last Nations Cup finals in Ghana and Nigeria where Bafana finished third. After which he suffered a serious injury that sidelined him for most of the last English season.
Eyebrows will, however, be raised at veteran playmaker John "Shoes" Moshoeu's selection. Moshoeu is past his sell by date but the lack of a genuine playmaker has obviously forced Queiroz to stick with experience.
The squad will be trimmed to 26 players for the camp starting on December 26 and cut to 22 on December 28. That will be the squad that travels to Mali on January 19 carrying the country's hopes.
