Khartoum, Sudan, Feb. 16, GNA - An Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association, (GFA) Alhaji Adam Munkaila, has expressed concerns about the future of Ghana football after the disastrous outing by the Black Stars at the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) which is ongoing in Sudan.
A visibly dissatisfied Munkaila told GNA Sports in Khartoum that he wa= s highly disappointed with the output of the players, considering the fact that they are considered the 91best' on the local scene.
Alhaji Munkaila said the performance of the team is a clear indication that they are far from being counted amongst the 91best' as is being perceived at the local front.
"I am very disappointed with the performance of the players and I th= ink the players are not the best in the Premier League as we were made to believe," Munkaila, the leader of the Ghanaian delegation voiced out. The local Black Stars failed to go past the group stages after losses to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger, and finished at the depth of Group B with no point behind Zimbabwe (3 points), Niger (6 points) and South Africa (9 points).
Alhaji Munkaila who is also Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, noted that an uncertain future awaits football in the country, if the players in the local Black Stars are called the best. "If these players are the best in the League, then we have a serious trouble. I do not think they represent the best."
He said the management have learnt their lessons and will prepare feverishly for future tournaments.
The local Black Stars were losing finalists at the maiden edition of the tournament held in 2009 in Cote d'Ivoire and is designed exclusively for local-based footballers.
