Tunisia sink Ghana in final warm-up game

Sun, 15 Jan 2006 Source: BBC/-

Ghana lost their second successive African Nations Cup warm-up game, this time, 2-0 to Tunisia in Rades, Tunisia on Sunday.

The reigning African Champions, the Carthage Eagles, dominated the game and had the best chances in the first half.

The first came after nine minutes as Ziad Jaziri hit the bar with a shot from the edge of the area.

Despite several other good chances, including a Rahdi Jaidi header that was cleared off the line, the Ghanaian defence held firm and the first half ended goalless.

Tunisia eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark with Ajax's Hatem Trabelsi passing the ball to Sofiane Meliti, who cut in from the left wing to fire past Sammy Adjei in the Black Stars' goal.

On 75 minutes Tunisia got a penalty when Adjei was judged to have brought down Amine Letifi in the area and Kaies Ghodhbane stepped up to fire into the roof of the net from the spot.

In friendlies earlier in the week Ghana lost 1-0 to Togo, while Tunisia beat Libya by the same score line.

Ghana line-up: Sammy Adjei, Addoquaye Pappoe, John Paintsil, John Mensah, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Hamza Mohammed/Abubakar Yakubu, Laryea Kingston, Stephen Appiah, Prince Tagoe/Godwin Attram, Joe Tex Frimpong/Baba Adamu Armando, Haminu Dramani/Dan Edusei
