Two Ghanaian coaches for refresher course

Two Ghanaian coaches have secured scholarships from the Ghana Olympic Committee to enable them train abroad through the Olympic Solidarity.

These two coaches are Ibrahim Issah of the Ghana Swimming Association and Martin Prince Oppan, a Taekwondo coach.

They were selected by the Ghana Olympic Committee after a rigorous screening exercise.

Ibrahim Issah currently has left the shores of Ghana for Budapest, Hungary, for an International Coaching Course which will end on 6th December, 2013.

His course will be at the Semmelweis University, a course designed to train and educate coaches in a systematic way of improving their knowledge and skills in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of coaching.

Accra-based level 3 Taekwondo coach, Martin Prince Oppan, who holds a first degree in Human Resource Management from Regent University, will travel to the United States of America to take part in an International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Programme (ICECP) at the University of Delaware in Colorado Springs.

He is expected to leave the shores of the country to the USA on 28th September, 2013 and expected back on 29th April, 2014.

“It is a great opportunity to take part in such programmes and if you are going to learn with those who are winning laurels for their countries, then I think Ghana can also compete with them on an equal platform when we get there,” Martin Prince Oppan, Taekwondo coach, said after the press conference on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Issah and Martin Price Oppan are expected to meet some basic requirements such as first degrees to enable them qualify for the course.
