Accra, Oct. 31, GNA - Two Ghanaian referees have been selected by the Referees Appointment Committee of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to officiate in next year's MTN/Africa Cup of Nations soccer fiesta slated for Egypt.
The two made up of Accra-based Justice Agbenyegah Agbeko and Assistant Referee Justice Yeboah of Nsawam acceptance would however depend on their clearance of a medical fitness and will be among the number of referees who will have the honour of whistling at the greatest soccer festival in Africa the GNA Sports has gathered.
Messrs Agbeko and Yeboah are scheduled to participate in a course for Elite Africa Referees and Assistant Referees and undergo physical fitness tests from November 23-29 in Cairo, Egypt.
The referees would be given the final clearance to officiate in the tournament should they pass the tests.
According to the information gathered from the headquarters of CAF by the GNA Sports, the referees are to send their Curriculum Vitae's (CVs), two identity photos and their measurements for Adidas equipment by November 7.
Mr Abdel Moneim Hussein in a personal letter to the referees chanced upon the GNA Sports said the referees would be taken through exercises concerning the laws of the game with some practical lessons for the tournament.
This, according to the CAF scribe is to ensure the highest standard of refereeing at the competition.
Both Messrs Agbeko and Yeboah have for the past years being on the list of CAF for Continental club competitions as well as World Cup qualifying matches.
