United Bank of Africa (UBA) Ghana, last Saturday July 8 2016 held its first ever Mini Olympics at the Astro Turf Court at Dzorwulu in Accra.
Due to the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics, UBA worldwide decided to dub the event " the Mini Olympics". The bank has been organizing a quarterly jogging exercise, with the sole aim of keeping fit and maintaining good health standards among the staff.
The event brought together staff from various branches of the bank participating in games like ludu, tug of peace, lime and spoon, athletics, football, etc.
Chief Executive Officer of UBA Ghana, Abiola Bawuah, revealed that the event is organized in the 19 countries the bank is present in.
“The purpose of this event is to bond us together as team, and also enable our clients and the general public be aware that they are part of us; and finally create the awareness of our new branch in Dzorwulu, hence our decision for holding the event here in Dzorwulu”, she said.
“Such Mini Olympics is also organized by all our branches in the various regions of Ghana, thus it is not new at all”, she added.
The competing teams were Abiola, Uzoka, Africa Pride and Lion Prime.
Team Abiola emerged the overall winner, while Lion Prime emerged the runner-up. Team Uzoka placed third while Team Africa Pride took the fourth position.
The event commenced at 6:30 am and ended at 12 noon.
