Cape Coast, Jan.30, GNA - The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been urged to support the University for Development Studies improve its sporting facilities to encourage them in unearthing sports talents.

Mr Mustapha Issahaku, principal coach of the university made the appeal on Friday at the just ended 18th GUSA games held at Cape Coast. He attributed the poor performance of the university at the games to lack of sporting equipment and facilities at the various campuses of the university adding that if the ministry assist them in their request, they would be able to produce good sportsmen and even host the GUSA games in future.

Mr Issahaku said even though their performance in the just ended GUSA games shows an improvement over the last years, there was still room for an improvement as they are gradually settling down.

The University for Development Studies secured two gold, three silver and two bronze to place last in the games.

Dr John Sackey, GUSA president congratulated the university for their impressive performance adding that the performance of the sportsmen and women were more like observers than competitors two years ago during similar games.
