Ghana midfielder Muniru Sulley lasted 67 minutes as his Steaua Bucuresti side were thrashed 5-0 by Man City on Tuesday in the first-leg of of their Champions League qualifying play-off.

The 23-year-old gave away a penalty in the seventh minute when he felled Raheem Sterling in the box but Sergio Aguero missed the spot-kick.

Muniru was replaced by Ovidiu Popescu with Steaua already trailing by 3 goals to nil.

Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick but also missed two penalties – the first saved and second powered over – either side of David Silva’s opener.

Striker Aguero stroked in his first goal to make it 2-0 and added two more after Nolito scored City’s third.

The younger brother of Sulley Muntari played in a double pivot in front of the back four with Vlad Achim. However, they were unable to shackle the City midfield who run riot on the day.
