Midfielder Uriah Asante has all but confirmed his imminent move to rivals Asante Kotoko after revealing there have been advanced talks between his agents and officials of the Ghana League Champions as his contract with Hearts Of Oak has expired.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Angel FM, the talented midfielder confirmed his loan spell with the Phobians has expired and that Asante Kotoko are the only local club who have indeed approached his right owners for a possible transfer.

“I have no ties with Hearts of Oak anymore. I signed a year loan deal with them and the season is over so I have reverted to my right owners Pure Joy FC.”

“It is true Kotoko have shown so much interest by contacting my manager Isaac Tetteh (T.T Brothers, a formr management member of Hearts) and they have also called to inform me about their interest. So far, they are the only local club who has approached us so that is what is on board,” Asante revealed to Angel FM.

“I have about two foreign offers; one from a club in South Africa and the other from Tunisia but talks are far advanced and all I can say now is that Kotoko have shown their intention and the decision is just left with my agent and I, which we are still deliberating on,” he added.

Asante, one of the very few exciting players in the Glo Premier League explains his decision not to renew his contract with Hearts of Oak and believes a change is just all that he needs.

“I just want a change. In life, there comes a time when you feel for a change of environment and everybody needs and deserves a change. You can stay at one place just like somebody moving from one neighbourhood to another for a fresh breeze.”

The Prampram PureJoy player who was at the receiving end of attacks from the Phobian fans for ‘flirting’ with rivals Asante Kotoko for making a solidarity comment on the facebook statusupdate of the then head coach of Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu ahead of a Premier League match thanked the team and its fans for a memorable time with the club.

“They should continue to pray for me to reach the heights they wish me to be and I thank them for the way they supported me throughout last season. I really appreciate what they did for me and I wish them well.”
