The management of Vanguard Assurance, one of the country’s leading Insurance firms, has promised to extend their support to the next edition of the annual Ghanaian professional footballers charity game which is organized by Global-Avanti Sports Alliance in support of Orphanage Africa.

Disclosing this to the sporting press yesterday at the conference room of Vanguard Assurance during the company’s presentation of a 50 million cedis cheque to executives of Global-Avanti Sports Alliance, organizers of the event in fulfillment of their pledge during the last year’s game, Mr. Daniel Awuah Darko, Vice Chairman of the company noted that his outfit was really touched when they were approached by former Black Stars skipper, Anthony Baffoe, Tony Yeaboah, Jamil Maraby among others on behalf of Orphanage Africa to extend their financial support to the Orphanage, since it has always being the company’s desire to support the deprived ones in society.

According to Mr. Awuah, there are possibilities that the company may be increasing their support in the next event due to what they witnessed last December at Sekondi as the game was well patronize by soccer lovers as well as receiving wider media coverage.

The competition, which is purposely organized to raised funds for Orphanage Africa, a non governmental organization that aims to support and create Children’s Homes in Ghana, through programmes in education, technology farming and general healthcare.

The Orphanage, which is situated at Dodowa, has former France World Cup winner Marcel Desailly, as its international spokesperson with support from the likes of Anthony Baffoe, Tony Yeaboah and others.

The event, which has come to stay according to organizers, had its maiden edition to years ago, when an Appiah XI side featured against Desailly XI at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium with the second edition taking place last December at the Sekondi Gyandu Park between Tony Yeboah XI and Tony Baffoe XI. However, the third edition, has been scheduled to come off in Tamale with a selected Italy based Black Stars midfielder, Sulley Ali Muntari XI facing fellow Stars defender Shilla Illiasu XI.

On his part, Nana Kwasi Agyemang, General Manager of Global-Avanti Sports Alliance thanked officials of Vanguard Assurance for fulfilling the support and promised that the marriage between the two parties will be a lasting one.
