'Victory for Nigeria' - Davido hails Burna Boy, Wizkid's Grammy gong

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Davido has reacted to Grammy Awards victories by two of his compatriots, Burna Boy and Wizkid.

Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album category while Wizkid won Best Music Video for his collaboration with Beyoncé; "Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album."

It is the first time the two musicians have won the prestigious music award. In a tweet posted Monday morning, Davido said: "Whichever way you look at it, this is a victory for Nigeria for the culture and for my people ! Congrats to our winners! Tule Naija!..."

Davido did not receive any nomination for the 2021 Grammy. The 63rd Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles United States of America on Sunday night March 14.

The virtual program was hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah. Burna Boy, however delivered a live performance on the show.
