Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie says Kwesi Nayntakyi’s victory on the FIFA council will be a victory for every Ghanaian.

The Ghana FA boss is among six candidates standing for two slots allocated to the Africa continent on the FIFA Executive Council.

CAF’s first Vice President Suketu Patel of Seychelles pulled out of the race earlier this week leaving the second vice President Almamy Kabele Camara from Guinea among the tough six candidates Nyantakyi will have to defeat to get a seat.

Nyantakyi's counterpart on the CAF Executive Committee Ahmad of Madagascar as well as his fellow West African FA chiefs Hamidou Djibrilla from Niger and Senegal's Augustin Senghor.

The last contender for the election to be held on 29th September in Cairo is Chabur Goc Alei of South Sudan.

And George Afriyie who is the vice to Nyantakyi says it will be a victory for all Ghanaians.

“A victory for Nyantakyi will be a victory for Ghana because it will be the first time a Ghanaian will be elevated to that level,” Afriyie told the press during the launch of the National U15 Championship.

“I can assure all Ghanaian that Nyantakyi will win Insha Allah.”

Nyantakyi has been the President of the Ghana Football Association for over a decade and ensured the Black Stars secure qualification to the last three World Cups.

He was elected to the Executive Committee of CAF some years ago and has been a charismatic football administrator not only in Ghana but also at the international level.

The election is set for the 29th of this month at the headquarters of CAF in Cairo, Egypt.
