Vitoria Guimaraes boss Pedro Martins singled out Alhassan Wakaso for praise despite his sides 1-0 defeat to Boavista over the weekend.
The Ghanaian lasted full duration in the game and was adjudged the best player for his side who put up a very lame performance.
“I think that the performance was not that good but for wakaso most of the players did not just show up today,” Martins told the press after the game
“We are not too far from the top and we have to continue working hard and avoid performances like this.”
Wakaso joined Guimaraes after a disappointing six-month spell with Lorient in the French League and has since been the team’s first choice holding midfielder.
Guimaraes are 8th on the league table while Boavista who are having a great season are 6th on the league log.
