Madam Monica Arko Adjei, the Eastern Regional Coordinator of the Volleyball Association, has appealed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and well-meaning Ghanaians, to support the Association with sponsorship packages and logistics.
This, she said, would help sustain the on-going Eastern Region Volleyball League.
She said the sports had proven to have a sizeable number of followers in the region, but it needed sponsorship packages to sustain it.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Adjei said the performance of the participating teams had been encouraging, and had led to host communities showing interest.
She added that there were more talents in volleyball, but due to lack of support, such talents were not being identified.
She indicated that most of the volleyball clubs were ran by individuals pushed by their interests in the sports, and were less resourced to finance the clubs and the players, mostly students .
Madam Adjei also appealed to the public to support them with some volleyballs and nets to help the teams train adequately for their matches.
She said though the on-going league had no title sponsor, she was hopeful to get a sponsorship for the grand finals, to help sustain interest in the league next season.
