The Ghana FA has directed all Premier League clubs to observe a minute’s silence before the midweek matches as a mark of respect for the anniversary of the May 9th disaster.

With the matches falling one day before the 12th anniversary of the tragedy, match officials including referees and match commissioners have been asked to make sure it is observed.

It is a fitting tribute to the 126 supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko who died on 9th May 2001 during a league match between the two sides at the Accra Sports Stadium.

As a mark of sympathy following the tragic event, the teams and officials will observe the minute silence before the start of the matches at all the venues.

Players from both sides will join the match officials, coaches, stewards and supporters in observing the silence.
