Ho Voradep Football Club on Sunday beat Athletique Club (AC) Merlan, a premier side of Togo by three-goals-to-one in an international friendly soccer match played at the Ho Sports Stadium.

Voradep showed determination of carrying the day immediately referee Attah Amevor whistled for the commencement of the match and their efforts were rewarded in the 17th minute when Attipoe Stephen, playing in the inside right position latched on a loose ball to beat goalie Joachin Kpadenu in post for the visitors.

AC Merlan's Asumanu Sambo Abass in the 30th minute could have levelled up for his side but his point blank shot at goal was saved beautifully by Voradep's goalie, Abubakar Saddique.

A three-man combination by Abass, Erasser Affoh and Sinyo Koffie, from the right flank in the 43rd minute caught the defensemen of Voradep ball watching for Affoh to plunge the ball into the roof of the net levelling up before recess.

Voradep resumed the second half strongly and scored two goals through Seth Tawiah and Patrick Ganaku in the 55th and 75th minutes respectively. Tawiah increased the tally for his side barely a minute of his substitution, when he connected home from Fred Okoh's freekick.

Ganaku unleashed a 25-metre volley to mesmerise goalie Kpadenu. Meanwhile, Mr Koffie Sronvie, President of the Club, told the GNA Sports that the friendly was to fine tune the team towards the resumption of the Togo's premier league, which starts on March 9, this year.

He said the team placed 11th in a 16-club league last season but hoped to perform better in the impending league.

Mr Sronvie said the Club is running a sports academy for the under-10, 12, 15, 17 and 19 age groups.
