Ghana’s national under-17 team, the Black Starlets, have been drawn against Burkina Faso in the semi-final of the WAFU Zone B U17 tournament ongoing at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Burkinabés defeated Togo 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium on Thursday, May 23, 2024, to set up their clash with Ghana on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
Burkina Faso placed second in Group B after amassing 7 points from three matches. Their group was topped by Nigeria, who also earned 7 points but with a superior goal difference.
The Stallions of Burkina Faso drew their first match with Nigeria and subsequently beat Niger 1-0 in their second match.
Ghana’s U-17 team has been sensational in the WAFU Zone B U17 tournament, winning all their matches at the group stages.
The Black Starlets beat Ivory Coast 5-1 in their first match to assert their dominance as the host country.
The team later earned a 2-0 win over Benin to finish as group leaders with Ivory Coast coming second.
Under the leadership of coach Laryea Kingston, the Black Starlets will be hoping to make it to the final to earn one of the slots available for the U-17 AFCON slated for 2025.
Nigeria will take on Ivory Coast in the second semi-final match of the tournament.
