Wa Young Heroes Are New Milo colts Champions

Wa (Upper West) 16 Nov., Wa Young Heroes, representing the Upper West Region are the new 1997 Under-17 Milo colts Champions. They beat great uppers representing the Upper East Region 1-0 in the finals of the championship played at the Wa Secondary School Park. On their way to the finals, Heroes beat Ketu Salvation Stars from Volta Region 4-0, Drew 0-0 with Kaloun Stars of Kumasi and pipped Shooting Stars of Kumasi 1-0. Heroes dictated the pace in the early minutes of the same and captured the midfield from the 25th minute when Fuseini Abubakari slotted in the only goal. For their prize, Heroes received 1.2 milion cedis, six cartons of milo, a set of jersy, 20 T-Shirts and two Footballs while runners-up great Uppers got 900,000 cedis, 20 Milo T-Shirts and a quantity of Milo products. Fuseini Abubarkari of Young Heroes who emerged the goalking of the tournament with seven goals received 100,000 cedis, 10 satchets of milo, and one milo T-Shirt, Haruna Adam of Tamale Shooting Stars who emerged the overall best player of the tournament received the same prize. The fairplay trophy and 200,000 cedis went to hearts babies of the Greater Accra Region.
