Wakaso begins pre-season with Espanyol injured

Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has begun pre-season training with his club Espanyol at the Ciudad Deportiva de Sant Adria.

But the Ghana international trained with lower intensity on Wednesday due to a left hamstring sore.

Wakaso is likely to leave the Barcelona-based side before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

He might not finish the six weeks of physical and tactical work in preparation for the 2013-14 season at the club.

Early this week, the club's director Jose Luis Morlanes told Catalunya Radio they have rejected a 4.5 million euro bid from an unnamed European club.

English Premier League side Swansea are the front-runners for his signature but must be ready to meet his asking price of 8 million euros.
