The Rubin Kazan player was discharged from the hospital on Thursday after doctors confirmed that he is now free of the illness that has been described by the Russian media as ‘tropical malaria’.

The head of infectious diseases section of the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan, Irina Kravchenko, confirmed that the Ghanaian star has been released after showing signs of full recovery from the disease.

“He has been discharged to go home. The latest analysis showed no malaria parasites in his blood,” – said Kravchenko.

According to Kravchenko, the footballer suffered the most severe form of ‘tropical malaria’, which he picked up in early July during a trip home to Ghana.

According to the doctor the disease in Wakaso was mild as the healing process took six days.

“For the inhabitants of the African continent tropical malaria is easily treated so for Wakaso he did not even have a high fever, which is typical for Europeans when they have malaria,” Kravchenko explained.

She also noted that when Wakaso felt unwell, he rightly guessed the disease which made it easier for accurate diagnosis.

With the necessary drugs are in stock, the player had immediate medical care after admission to the hospital.

Wakaso disease caused a major stir in Russia with players of the club all undergoing tests even though the disease cannot be passed from person to person.
