Stanley Briamah of the Regional Cor-ordinating Council in the Central region has emerged the BEST WALKER for 2002.
Briamah zoomed ahead of 10 other crack walkers after a knowledgeable panel assessed the number of competitions that were held last year, vis-?-vis his performances.
Among the competitions include the Biriwa Beach walk, Cape Coast Afahye Walk, and the ALITALIA WALK in which he emerged tops. Briamah was also part of the Ghanaian delegation that took part in the World Walking Cup in Torino, Italy last October.
The victorious Briamah started WALKING as a sport some 10 years ago and has steadily risen from strength to strength. Among the walkers he started ”off with are ace walker Vincent Asumang, Ahmed Tijani and a host of others.
Briamah is coached on the local front by Mr. Albert Nukpezah of the National Sports Council in Accra, and has the world renowned Dave McGovern as his foregn coach.
Of all his sterling performances, he is best remembered for the unbelievable clocking of 1 hour 33 minutes in last year’s 20 km Fetu Afahye Walk.
