Walkers Awarded

The Visco Walking Club has awarded walkers who excelled in the just ended National Sports Festival. The ceremony took place at the Club's academy in Cape Coast. Nine year old walker Rudolf Ato Yankah of Cape Coast Flowers Gay School who was adjudged the new discovery in the men's category was the first to receive a pair of Race Walking shoes, a carton of Voltic mineral water and some products of Energizer flashlight and batteries as well as educational materials worth 200,000 cedis.

The next person to mount the podium was Miss Jacqueline Bludo.For her price, she was given 200,000cedis cash, a pair of walking shoes and a carton of Voltic mineral water. The third person to be awarded was Ahmed Tijani Sanni of (Navy), who won the first gold medal in the men's 20km walk with a time of 1hour 30mins 27.1sec and the only gold at National Sports Festival for Ghana Armed Forces, an Alitalia ticket to partake in this year's Malay Mail Big Walk in Malaysia on the 8 of August 2004 on .Each of the three also had a 2 hour free brows at The Net Caf on the campus of the University of Cape Coast as well as products of Elephant Ointment.

The presentation was made by Mr. James Khofi Tuah who is an executive member of the Club. He thanked the management of Biriwa Beach Hotel, Savoy Hotel, Hexagon Guest House and other sponsors who have contributed immensely towards the development of walking in Ghana and made the award ceremony possible.
