Waris strikes to frustrate Marseille in Ligue 1

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris scored Lorient's goal in their 1-1 stalemate with Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille in France on Saturday.

The 24-year-old fired the Les Merlus at the Stade du Moustoir 11 minutes before half-time but Chilean midfielder Mauricio Isla pulled even for the under-performing giants.

Algerian Walid Mesloub played Waris into the space, and he ghostly breached the offside trap before approaching the Steve Mandanda with confidence and buried the ball into his net with a clinical half-volley.
