Last Friday, the weigh-in for the Ghana National Super Bantamweight Title Fight between champion Wasiru Mohammed aka Gyatabi and veteran Richmond Commey came off at the headquarters of Marwako Foods at La in Accra.
E & J Boxing Promotions who are new in the boxing business said they have learnt much under African Rising Star Promotions that brought up Issac Dogbe and now they want to create more champions and give other potential world champions the opportunity.
John Yaw Owiredu Manfo and Ellis Quarshigah, the directors of E & J Promotions who addressed the media during the programme said they have come to organize quality fights and make the youth in Ghana happy.
They named some personalities like Yoofi Boham who has taught them much about the business of boxing.
They promised to help young rising stars. Boxers who were lined up on the E & J Bill include Wasiru Mohammed versus Richmond Commey, Prince Nartey against Richard Ashong, Abram Afful versus Justice Addy and Eric Quarm versus Dan Ankornu. The match maker is hardworking ex boxer and trainer, Fatai Issifu.
Mr. Rabon Dodoo, representing the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) said the title fight has been sanctioned by the Authority.
Emmanuel DaCosta of Marwako said he was impressed with the attraction given to his company.
Adehyeman Savings and Loans Company also partnered the event, and a representative said they have been around for many years, and willing to do business with the boxing fraternity.
The event attracted a lot of people with many of them coming to the restaurant for the first time. Hon. Mohammed Amin Lamptey. Marketing and PR Manager of Marwako was the Master of Ceremony and distinguished himself propelling the programme successfully.
The bill is fixed for the indoor facility of the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
The rates for the fight are 100ghc for VIP, 50ghc for the Center and 20ghc for the Popular Stand.
Gates open at 6;00pm.
