Loren Japhet, a Tanzanian Super Bantamweight boxer has sworn to knockout his Ghanaian opponent, Wasiru Mohammed in their World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global Super Bantamweight title on Saturday, June 29, at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The confident-looking 19 years old Tanzanian arrived in Ghana on Wednesday together with Max James, his trainer, and told the GNA Sports in an interview from their hotel in Accra that, he had prepared well for a knockout win.

“I am very fit and I have trained to go home with the belt. I have been watching my opponent (Wasiru) through social media on YouTube and other videos, at training. He (Wasiru) won’t give us a lot of trouble because we know our opponent,” Japhet said through his trainer.

“I believe I would knockout Wasiru. I would not say which round but for the 12 rounds, he would not make it.”

He called for his fellow countrymen in Ghana to come and support him on the night.

“Tanzanians should know that I came here to represent them and would take victory for them. They should expect good fight from me. They should pray for me to come up with a victory.”

Ghana’s Wasiru “Gyatabi” Mohammed is the reigning WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion and would return to the ring for the first time since October last year.

The fight night code named; “Ascension, The Lion Roars” is set to give Wasiru his first chance to defend his title, following a victory over Isaac Sackey to clinch the WBO Africa Bantamweight title.

The undefeated Ghanaian pugilist (11, 0, KO9) is currently ranked number 14 by the WBO and a victory on Saturday would move him further into the top 10 boxers in the division on the world ranking.

Japhet, on the other hand, has lost twice in 13 bouts (9-2-2, 2 KOs) in 73 rounds of boxing with Knock Outs (KOs) percentage of 15.

E&J Promotions, the organizers of the fight have fixed the rates for the fight at, GH¢ 20.00 for Popular Stand, GH¢ 50.00 Regular and 100gh for the VIP.
