The Black Satellites began their U-20 Africa Cup qualifiers with a stalemate against Benin in the WAFU Zone B tournament.

Star man Jerry Afriyie scored a brace in the thrilling 2-2 draw at the Stade de Kégué in Togo.

Ghana, after a bright start, drew first blood in the game through Jerry Afriyie, who finished a brilliant move by the Satellites.

Afriyie, after receiving the final pass from a sequence of about nine passes, went around the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the yawning net.

Benin pulled level through Derrick Djokoui, who connected with a free kick with a glancing header to the far post.

Gabriel Moulero put Benin in front on the stroke of halftime with an audacious goal after his cross caught the goalkeeper off guard and went in.

The Black Satellites took the game to the Beninese in the second half in search of an equaliser but had to wait until stoppage time when they eventually levelled from the spot.

Benin's defender handled the ball and conceded a penalty, which Jerry Afriyie perfectly dispatched to grab his second of the night.

Ghana will be hoping for their first win in the tournament when they face Niger in their second group game.
