Black Stars forward Joseph Paintsil continues his rich vein of form in the United States after scoring in the Leagues Cup game for LA Galaxy against Guadalajara.
The 26-year-old netted in the 11th minute of a thrilling encounter that ended in penalty shootouts, with the MLS outfit advancing to the round of 32.
The Mexican side, Guadalajara, opened the scoring after just eight minutes through Alan Mozo, but Paintsil responded three minutes later with a fine strike.
Gabriel Pec, a fellow LA Galaxy Designated Player, gave the American side the lead with 23 minutes remaining, but Cade Cowell forced the game to penalties with a late strike.
Paintsil converted from the spot as LA Galaxy emerged victors 5-4 on penalties, progressing to the knockout stages, where they will face Seattle Sounders.
The Black Stars winger joined the California team in February from Belgian outfit KRC Genk and has instantly become a fan favorite, scoring nine goals and delivering seven assists across all competitions.
