Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante found the net for Coventry City in their narrow 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
The thrilling encounter at the Coventry Building Society Arena saw the Sky Blues take a surprise lead in the 63rd minute through Thomas-Asante's powerful strike. The attacker completed a well-worked move down the left, expertly finishing a cross from Belgian teammate Bassette.
Coventry held onto their advantage until the 88th minute when Tottenham's Djed Spence poked home an equalizer, capitalizing on a clever pass from Dejan Kulusevski. Just minutes later, in stoppage time, Brennan Johnson completed the comeback for Spurs, slotting a decisive goal past Wilson after a swift break.
Despite the defeat, Coventry can take heart from their performance and will now shift focus to their Championship clash against Swansea City on September 21st. Thomas-Asante's goal marked his second of the competition, further highlighting his growing influence.
