A dedicated supporter of Accra Hearts of Oak was captured on video crying intensely after the team's defeat to Holy Stars in the opening match of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season.
The man, identified as a taxi driver, was seen shedding uncontrollable tears and expressing how the loss has caused him sleepless nights and immense disappointment.
Despite the team's poor performance, the fan vowed to continue supporting Hearts of Oak, hoping they will regain their form and thrill the fans once again.
"I find joy in football and politics. I invest my money by attending the games at the stadium. My beloved Hearts of Oak lost their match [against Holy Stars], and I couldn't sleep that night; it was really tough. I am still a Phobia man and will never give up until the end," he said in Twi in a video shared by EDHUB on X.
The Phobians suffered a 1-0 defeat to the newly promoted side at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking an undesirable start to their season.
According to a report by 3Sports, following the disappointing result, fans prevented the coach from attending the mandatory post-match press conference, prompting police intervention to calm the situation.
The fans expressed their frustration by booing the players and the coach as they exited the stadium.
Their anger stems from the team starting a new season with a loss after a poor performance in the previous season that nearly led to relegation.
The Rainbow side will aim to bounce back in their next game to avoid a repeat of last season's struggles.
