Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden's (in yellow jersey) errorneous goal contributed to AZ Alkmaar's loss
Dutch-born goalkeeper of Ghanaian descent, Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro conceded an embarrassing goal during AZ Alkmaar’s 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.
The goalkeeper misread a header from Kiliann Sildillia, who had brought the ball under control before falling awkwardly to the ground. Rome-Jayden tried to scramble the ball clear off the goal line, but his effort ricocheted off a defender and trickled into the net.
One of his teammates, visibly frustrated by the howler, vented his anger by kicking the post multiple times.

The goal leveled the score, and AZ Alkmaar eventually lost 2-1 in the dying minutes of the match after a late strike from Ricardo Pepi.
This was a difficult moment for the 20-year-old goalkeeper, who has expressed interest in joining the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Some social media users had previously called for Rome-Jayden to be given the chance to compete with Benjamin Asare for the number one goalkeeping spot.
However, his recent performances have sparked concerns over a possible national team call-up and whether he truly offers a stronger option in goal than Benjamin Asare.
