Italian female boxer Angela Carini abandoned her bout against Algerian alleged transgender boxer Imane Khelif at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Carini quit the fight after just 46 seconds after receiving the first punch. Khelif landed two heavy punches in the opening round which appeared to have damaged Carini's chin.
She threw her helmet down and broke down into tears as her coaches climbed into the ring to console her.
Imane Khelif has, therefore, been handed the win following Carini's decision to bow out.
Khelif participation in the Olympics has become topical as many have protested against the International Olympic Committee (IOC) clearing him to compete.
The Algerian along with Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu Ting, the two transgender boxers were cleared to compete at the Olympics.
