Nelspruit, Feb. 7, GNA - Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has described the mood of his team as very down after Burkina Faso halted Ghana's quest for a fifth Nations Cup glory that spans over three decades.

The Stallions edged out Ghana 3-2 on penalties to book a final berth with Nigeria and Gyan says the defeat which set up a repeat of the last Nations Cup play off with Mali is hard to take.

"We are really sad at the moment. All the players are down. What else can I say. We are sad for the disappointment because we came here to win."

Gyan missed a few opportunities in the game that travelled 120 minutes and says "there were a few chances I should have buried but luck was not on my side."

Ghana will now meet Mali in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, February 9 for a consolation in bronze and the all Al Ain player insists " we will have to psych ourselves up and go for third place."

On his thoughts on the quality of the Mbombela pitch, Gyan who has scored once in five games at the tournament said " we cannot find excuses with the field. The better side won. The lucky side won. One had to win."

The Black Stars were hoping to halt the elusive fifth Nations Cup trophy that spans over three decades.
