Black Stars defender, Tariq Lamptey, has acknowledged that Ghana will be facing a strong Malian side in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
The Brighton and Hove Albion defender noted that the Black Stars have been working hard to achieve the best possible outcome from the game, despite Mali's quality.
"We know we are facing a good side; that's why we are trying to concentrate on ourselves and working hard to make sure that we give ourselves the best chance possible," he told the media.
Tariq Lamptey is expected to start the game, which will be his first competitive match for Ghana since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He will be hoping to mark his return with a win, which would move Ghana to second place on the table. The team currently sits fifth in Group I with one win and one defeat from two games.
Mali is second in the group with four points from two games. Therefore, a win would keep their World Cup campaign on course.
