Head coach of Ghana’s amateur boxing team, Ofori Asare believes his team is battle-ready for the African qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.
The Black Bombers have been in camp for three months prepping up for the tournament and are expected to leave the country on Monday for the competition which commences on February 20 to 29, 2020 at the International Expo Centre, Diamniadio.
The team begun their non-residential camping at the Accra Sports Stadium but later moved to the Bukom Boxing Arena which is well equipped with the facilities needed to shape the team for the competition ahead.
Although the preparations have not been all smooth-sailing, coach Ofori Asare is confident his lads are ready for the task ahead.
“We keep trying to bring up the best in the boxers because we are close to the competition. We’ve gone through all the necessary technical aspect we have to go through. They are physically and psychologically ready,” coach Ofori Asare told the media.
The coach further added that moving to the Bukom Boxing Arena has been essential to finalizing preparations for the team.
“The difficulties are numerous but for the finishing, we’ve been able to get the Boxing Arena where we are preparing and I can say we are battle-ready.”
Ten boxers made up of 8 male and 2 female boxers will be representing Ghana in Dakar.
