Assistant Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Akakpo Patron says his side missed several chances to avoid penalty shootouts despite the victory over Storm Academy in the MTN FA Cup.
The defending Champions defeated the lower tier side Storm Academy 6-5 on penalties after a barren 90 minutes of football.
The Porcupine Warriors who are bent on defending the trophy spurned several chances and felt unlucky to have not scored with regulation time.
Meanwhile, after the entire duration, the Reds won on penalties but Akakpo patron bemoans the missed chances.
"We did very well. Storm started very well in the first ten minutes and we were a bit slow but from then we took over, dominated the play but we looked wasteful through out the game in front of goal," he said after the game.
"In the second half we were more creative but we waste chances in front of goal but I think performance wise I think it's okay. Once we keep creating chances we can win matches," he added.
Kotoko defeated Accra Hearts of Oak 3-1 in the finals last season, after a first half hat-trick from striker Saddick Adams, who left the club last week, condemned the Phobians.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko have not had a fine start to the Zylofon Cash Premier but will hope the victory over Storm Academy will serve as a boost ahead of their clash with Liberty Professionals in Dansoman on Wednesday.
