Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has commended his administration for the significant improvements in the performances of Ghana's national teams, highlighting the country’s strong position in the race to qualify for a fifth FIFA World Cup.

Under Okraku's leadership, the Black Stars participated in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last year, while the Black Queens secured a return to the continental stage for the first time since 2018.

Additionally, the Black Princesses and Black Satellites won gold medals at the 2023 African Games, with the Princesses also qualifying for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

Speaking at the GFA's 30th Ordinary Congress on Tuesday, August 27, Okraku expressed pride in the achievements of the national teams and emphasized the administration's goal for the Black Stars to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

"We have made strides in our national team performances with the qualifications to the WAFCON, to the men's AFCON, and at the moment, we are in a good position in our determination to qualify for the [2026] World Cup," Okraku stated.

The Black Stars are currently second in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, level on points with Comoros, who occupy the top spot.

Meanwhile, the senior national team will kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying games against Angola and Niger next month.
