Director General of the National Sports Authority(NSA), Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah, says they have instituted a committee to investigate the malfeasance alleged to have taken place in the $2million multi-purpose sports courts project in a report by the Auditor General’s Department back in 2012.

AngloGold Ashanti provided $2 million for the provision of sports court in some selected areas in the country, but some facilities have not be done,

while the other one that was supposed to have been completed, is apparently an abandoned project at Enchi, Dadieso, in the Western Region.

In an interview with Ghanacrusader.com at the launch of the Ghana Open Taekwondo Championship yesterday, Hon. Sarfo called for engagement to resolve this issue to help the sports thrive and highlighted the setting up of the internal audit committee to investigate this project.

He said: ” Our concern is that let us engage further because I believe that at the end of the day our interest is for the development of sports and making more progress.

“When I took over as the acting Director General, I read the audit file and I came to a conclusion that this must be handled at the individual level so we need to establish certain structures to ensure we get to the bottom of this issue,” he told ghanacrusader.com

He added: “So per the new financial management act there is suppose to be a committee could audit committee which technically supports the agency to handle some of this challenges. So it was only yesterday that our committee was inaugurated by the NSA and their first major assignment was given to them was to delve into this issue,” he ended.
